How to find peace in chaos

The importance of keeping an open mind (and heart)

Keeping an open mind and not blindly following and believing what you read and hear is so important in this time where information is so abundant. We have to think for ourselves and question the information put in front of us, especially when it concerns our health and well-being. And doesn’t it always concern our own health and well-being when you think about it? This is why people get so defensive about what they believe because it is so personal.

The more aggressively science, or an opinion, is defended, the more I question it. A big red flag goes up for me now. It’s easy to get misled by opinions backed up with solid science.

However, science itself is nothing more than a hypothesis, and scientists often will find data that confirms what they want to find. The other unfortunate thing that is happening is that some scientists are deliberately manipulating data to get a desired outcome. The driving force is no longer the quest to acquire knowledge, but a desire to acquire more money.

Division causes separation and resistance, even wars.

I love reading and researching, and I have been researching constantly lately, anything I can get my hands on regarding our health, happiness, and our environment. I am very passionate about it. I always read the comments on the articles posted, genuinely interested in both sides of any story.

Until I literally started feeling sick about how people attack each other based on their different opinion. It can get really ugly and really personal. I was stunned and appalled, and I think it is something we should all be concerned and aware off. We have to stop this insanity. This way of behaving is showing me how narrow-minded all of us can be, when we start calling each other ignorant, stupid, or worse, just because we hold a different opinion. We are all ignorant. We have no right to judge anyone.

The moment I strongly defend any opinion or belief, I close my heart and mind to other options. I deny the uniqueness of every other being, and of myself. I fail to recognize the importance of diversity and interconnectedness. The moment I passionately share my opinion with the intention to convert you into believing this will make you happy too, I make the mistake that what is true for me, is not always the truth. Not for me nor for anyone else. It is much more complicated than that.

Defending our opinions causes division instead of diversity. Expert advice is nothing more than one small option in an ocean of truths and options. It doesn’t mean it’s bad advice, it’s just not necessarily the right advice for everyone.

Division causes separation. The moment I take sides, being pro- or against, I plant the seeds of judgment and find an enemy to fight against. The risk is that I ignore the bigger picture. This is the underlying reason why people kill each other and why there are wars!

The stronger we identify with our current reality, the smaller our world becomes, and the chances of healing, growth and expansion diminish.

It is a never ending paradox. We search for the truth, and every time we think we find it, it turns out there is more we don’t know. But instead of accepting that, we protect our truth from crumbling and defend it as if our life depends on it.

This is happening in science too. Anything that does not fit in the current realm is considered not correct. Admitting that they could be wrong is not an option. Too many people are invested in keeping their truth alive. This is bad news. They are defending a dogma, not science!

Who am I to think I have the right answers? Who am I to think I can figure it all out, and who are we to think we know better than all the powerful universal energy that not only surrounds us but created us?

Do we really think we can solve the current problems of the world with our small, limited minds? The same limited minds that got us into trouble in the fist place?

Do we really think we even understand the root of all our problems? As long as we keep thinking the same thoughts and keep taking sides, defending our opinion, and protecting our identity and our heart, using fear and hate to gather momentum, we are moving away from a solution with exponentially increasing speed. No matter how great we think our cause is, and no matter how well intended.

We are far more intelligent and powerful than staying stuck in this small way of thinking.

An open mind and heart are the foundation of peace

Fortunately, there are many positive sources around the world that I have faith in.

I only know that I don’t know anything for sure. I can practice being okay with uncertainty and I practice keeping my heart and my mind open to unlimited options.

I don’t trust any information presented in the media or social media. Especially when there is a war going on between two sides. Nothing good can come from hate and fear. It just feels out of alignment with truth to me.

I follow my heart, my common sense, what feels right to me and for me. What other people think or do is up to them. But I do feel a responsibility to at least try and alert you all to this potential division, which is the opposite of where we want to go.

Please keep an open mind, and try not to judge another for having a different view or opinion. Respect others, even if you know they are 'wrong'. We can disagree with another person without hating them. We can disagree with someone we love.

The more we resist and fight against the things we don’t want or don’t believe in, the more we will attract it. Instead, focus on what makes sense to you, and what you do want, and do believe in. Focus on that what feels good to you. Give up the right to be right. It doesn't serve you or anyone else.

Live your truth, dare to be you and for God’s sake practice unconditional love for all beings. After all, we really are all one and the same. What you do to others, you do to yourself. But that’s a whole other story.
